Black Faculty and Staff Association
The Boise State University Black Faculty and Staff Association is a group of concerned educators who seek to enhance, unify, increase productivity, and bolster morale of the Black community at BSU.
The BSUBFSA arose out of an expressed need for a more comprehensive representation of Blacks at Boise State University. Organizational meetings were held in the Spring of 2020 and the following goals were established:
To create a viable vehicle through which the campus's Black community could come together.
To communicate ideas emanating from diverse areas and disciplines.
To act on specific issues to improve the conditions of Blacks on campus.
To eradicate inequities based upon racial and sexual discrimination.
To facilitate networking.
The group will outline a sustainability plan for the recruitment and retention of black faculty and staff and aims to develop programs and build networks to create an environment where BSU is seen as a first-choice destination for black educators and their families.

Narrative outlining how employee participation in the institution’s sustainability activities was determined:
We estimate that 17% of employees are engaged in sustainability activities.
A conservative estimate was produced after creating a spreadsheet containing a mixture of the exact number of employees engaged (through Staff Training etc) and estimates (Presentation attendance). Furthermore, for engagement through channels such as Instagram or newsletter interactions where it is impossible to tell whether it was a staff or student a proportion was used. *To avoid dual accounting the newsletter subscriptions and the Instagram followers were approximated as per their proportion of total FTE (Students=18,136/21,180 , Employee = 3,043.7/21,180).
