Bronco Welcome: Sustainability has tables on multiple days designed to reach incoming freshmen during  Bronco Welcome events.  Bronco Welcome occurs during the first 5 weeks of the semester and consists of a large number of events meant to make students feel welcome on campus.  The Office of Sustainability tables at multiple events and provides information about sustainability at Boise State.  Reusable bags and reusable water bottles are distributed to students.

Yes

Information about sustainability is included within the slide set at the new employee orientation describing the role of the Office of Sustainability and how to get involved.


Does the institution have dashboards and/or signage highlighting the institution’s sustainability features or performance?:
Yes

Description of the institution’s sustainability dashboards and/or signage:

One building, the Micron Business and Economics Building, has interactive dashboards on the first floor that highlight the building's sustainability features.  The dashboard is an interactive touch screen and users can click on information about the building's excellent insulation, solar panels, and a green roof.  


Does the institution manage a sustainability-focused social media account, newsletter, blog, online community, podcast, video series, or equivalent communications medium or platform?:
Yes

Boise State Office of Sustainability operates an Instagram account and a newsletter.

Has the institution coordinated one or more sustainability-focused outreach campaigns during the previous three years?:
Yes

Description of sustainability-focused outreach campaigns from the previous three years:

We began a recycling outreach campaign in the spring of 2024 to increase awareness of what can be recycled on campus. The City of Boise recently changed what types of plastic recycling are accepted in the mixed recycling receptacles.  

The following groups were targeted for outreach:  Custodians, staff, faculty, and students.  

This Campaign will continue for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The campaign has consisted of:

  • New labels on recycling bins
  • In-person presentations
  • Newsletter articles
  • Instagram posts

Our best indicator of how many people we have reached is the number of people who open our newsletter.  223 people opened spring newsletter.
