Local advocacy

Does the institution advocate for public policies that support campus sustainability or that otherwise advance sustainability at the municipal/local level?:
Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the municipal/local level:
Locally, BHSU has advocated for the city of Spearfish to officially sign on to the Climate Resiliency Plan, funded by BHSU and created as a collaboration between the University, the city, and several other partners who are key stakeholders in the area. This policy has not been signed on to by the city yet, but the University has signed on to it and is advocating for the city to as well. One example of how this plan has been implemented in the past 3 years is in 2021, the climate resiliency task force including a select group of university and community leaders, met to share and collaborate on handling covid precautions.
