A brief description of the student sustainability research program:
The university takes part in the BRIN program, in which students can apply for research stipends to work under the direction of BHSU faculty and which have sustainability at the core at BHSU.
Through the BRIN program, students work on one of several projects at the Center for the Conservation of Biological Resources (CCBR) housed in the School of Natural Sciences at BHSU. CCBR supports genetic and genomic research, focusing on priority problems expressed by various organizations in the region. Their top priorities are mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, community outreach, developing collaborative research with state and regional agencies, and applying technology and research on species of importance to the region.
