A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
Black Hills State University Counseling Center provides on-campus counseling to currently enrolled students. Services are provided by licensed professional counselors who assist students in a non-judgmental, objective, confidential setting with their day-to-day concerns, problems, thoughts and feelings. There is no charges for counseling services for students currently registered at Black Hills State University.
As part of the State Health Plan, employees and their dependents have access to the Employee Assistance Program, which provides confidential, professional support for personal and work concerns at no cost to the employee. It includes a wide variety of life areas, such as family, alcohol/drugs, anxiety, parenting, workplace, aging, depression, grief, relationships, abuse, and financial.

BHSU is Smoke & Tobacco Free as of August 1, 2014. This policy has been put into place in order to protect and promote the health and comfort of our students, employees and visitors. Smoking and tobacco use of any kind will be prohibited on the entire interior of the campus including campus buildings and grounds. Smoking and tobacco use will only be allowed in personal vehicles in parking lots on campus.
