We launched an Eco-Rep program through the BHSU Office of Sustainability beginning in the academic year 2018-19. There are 1-2 Eco-Reps selected per residence hall, 1-2 for the Yellow Jacket Apartments, and 1-2 commuter Eco-Reps. These student leaders educate their peers on sustainable living and advocate for environmental awareness through campus events, social media, and stewardship. Eco-Reps complete the program with hands on experience in project management, public speaking, educational outreach, and leadership that will set them apart from others in their future endeavors. Eco-Reps will receive training in sustainability and program planning. Eco-Reps receive a $50 monthly stipend and certificate of program completion at the end of the school year. Additionally, the lead Eco-Rep position helps to advise students in completion of their projects and initiatives to meet the requirements of the Eco-Rep program through programming, zero-waste events and recycling move-in and move-out days as well as attending three meetings/month.
