As indicated above, Berea College has a Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion who focuses mainly on issues of staff and faculty equity and diversity, but who also works with others (Dean/AVP, President, Administrative Committee, Title IX Officer) to focus on student diversity and equity as well.

Berea College offers cultural competence training to both faculty and staff. All Berea College students are required to take GSTR 210, “Identity and Diversity in the United States.” This course focuses specifically on the Mission of Berea College (articulated in the Eight Great Commitments of Berea College), and include issues of race, gender, Appalachian identity, and class, to name a few.
