A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups:
Berea College provides excellent support for members of underrepresented groups (and for all Berea College students). This includes a Black Cultural Center which operates a Success Mentoring Program, as well as a Black Male Initiative, focusing on retention and matriculation of African American Males; the Carter G. Woodson Center for Interracial Education, focusing on Berea’s historic commitment to Interracial Education; The Loyal Jones Appalachian Center, focusing on all students from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Distressed Counties (with a particular foci on Appalachian Males); and the Louise and Francis Hutchins Center for International Education, which focuses both on our international student population (7-10% of Berea College students are F1 international), as well as providing our domestic students with a variety of programming and opportunities for international study abroad).
