Does the institution make cultural competence trainings and activities available to all students?:
Yes

A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:

Cultural sensitivity and training are at the core of Berea College's mission and Great Commitments. In particular, programs are available through the Black Cultural Center and International Center.

The Center is established and based on the premise that true integration and equality cannot be achieved without a general awareness, understanding, and appreciation of black culture. Over a decade later, the philosophical foundation of the Black Cultural Center has not changed.

The Black Cultural Center continues to support the historic commitments of Berea College. We assert the kinship of all people and provide multicultural education with a particular emphasis on understanding and equality among African Americans and Whites.
Mission Statement

The mission of the Black Cultural Center is designed to provide services that facilitate a campus environment that is supportive of the needs of Black/African American peoples at Berea College. Through programming, co-curricular programs, leader development, intercultural/interracial understanding opportunities, academic excellence strategies and other experiences, the center provides services to support the recruitment, retention, and graduation of Black students. In addition, the Black Cultural Center seeks to serve as a leader in facilitating the college's mission of Interracial Understanding, in the spirit "God had made of One Blood all Peoples of the Earth".

The Center for International Education fulfills its mission through four interconnected areas of responsibility:

Education Abroad and Exchanges
International Student and Scholar Services
Faculty and Curriculum Development
International Focus Programming for Students, Staff and Faculty
