A brief description of the institution's Tree Campus USA program:
Berea College is Tree Campus USA certified for 2009 and 2010. The program successfully formed a “Campus Tree Care Plan”, which covers all aspects of trees on the campus. A “Tree Group” composed of staff, faculty, and students oversees tree plantings and removals, and acts as a liaison for total campus inclusion of tree issues. Every spring the campus hosts an Arbor Day group planting and a service learning project with a related student class. Tree Campus USA also highlights campus tree expenditures and allows for better recordkeeping.
