The Recyclemania event for 2011 was sponsored by the Berea College Recycling Coordinator to improve recycling results on campus. The Recycling staff, made up primarily of student labor positions, along with our Grounds staff developed and disseminated educational material to encourage more focus on recycling and waste reduction.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign(s):
Over the course of the 10 week event, per capita recycling more than doubled, from 1.12 lbs to 2.35 pounds per capita. The College finished 86/362 overall, and 1st in Kentucky in the per capita competition.
