A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:
The Inclusive Excellence Council is charged with the implementation of strategic campus-wide initiatives that operationalize the University’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice. Using the Inclusive Excellence framework as a guide the Council will work to provide guidance and support to encourage the creation of a more actively inclusive and equitable campus.
The Office of Diversity & Inclusion is responsible for fostering an inclusive community by leveraging interactions between offices, educating the entire community and working to increase the diversity at all levels of the University. While the office coordinates university-wide, diversity-related programs and initiatives, many other departments, centers, offices, and organizations at Bentley contribute to improving the diversity climate through varied and persistent efforts.

Faculty and Staff
In Fall 2023 there are many workshops run out of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion office. Offerings include: Accessibility 101, (LGBTQ+) Ally 101, Anti-Racism 101, Assessment 101, Global Ally, and Trans Ally workshops.
Bentley also offers diversity Training Retreats for all full- and part-time members of the faculty and staff. This is a 3 day immersive retreat that is voluntary. The retreat is designed to deepen awareness and understanding of diversity issues on the Bentley campus. It provides a forum for members of the Bentley community to discuss and learn about how diversity issues such as gender, nationality, race and sexual orientation affect our functioning as a University. The sessions are highly interactive and discussion based.
Students
All students are required to do DEI training as part of thier orientation activities. During online orientation in June students will participate in a self-guided training entitled “Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging for Students”. This allows for students to have a baseline level of knowledge on this topic and Bentley resource. During in person orientation there are both required and optional programming that highlights these topics such as the keynote in 2022: Keynote: Ken Nwadike Jr. “The Power of Positive Human Interaction” which explores the power of positive human interaction and ways to bridge the racial divide by spreading love. The goal of this program is to create unity, civility, and build a more diverse and inclusive culture on your campus.
In addition, most student leaders are required to go through DEI training as part of their leadership roles on campus or employment with various offices on campus.
