LCCA practices are used when making decisions about lighting and HVAC equipment upgrades and with regards to the installation of new mechanical equipment in new construction projects. The university considers equipment maintenance, the cost of unplanned equipment down-time, replacement of parts and energy use as part of its decision-making process.
