We know that these franchises provide organic food but there is no tracking mechanism in place to capture this data.


A brief description of the sustainable food and beverage purchasing program:

There is no formal program for tracking sustainable food and beverage purchases. Bentley's dining services provider Sodexo,has a corporate commitment to supporting local, seasonal and sustainably grown products through the Sodexo "Better Tomorrow Plan" however a formal method of tracking expenditures that are local and community-based and/or third party verified at the campus level has not been created.


A brief description of the methodology used to track/inventory sustainable food and beverage purchases:

Bentley's Office of Sustainability has been working with Sodexo, to obtain information related to food/beverage purchases. Through this effort we were only able to obtain a report on product provided by Sysco which account a vast majority of the products served/sold via Sodexo on Bentley's campus.

The information on total spend and organic spend are only reflective of data from Bentley/Sodexo's purchases from Sysco. We anticipate that the majority of the certified and local foods that are purchased on campus come from vendors other than Sysco, however we are not tracking those purchases adequately.
