The Sustainability Literacy test that we used was developed by the United Nations. It is a concrete implementation of the Higher Education Sustainability Initiative launched by different UN entities during the Rio+20 conference. This tool was built to serve the common good. It’s a global, non-profit, web-based platform to develop and assess relevant knowledge and skills in sustainable development for current and future policy shapers and decision-makers; all the global citizens who are now responsible for carrying out the UN’s Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. The test has been implemented by almost 400 universities from 50 countries.

The Sustainability Literacy Test was administered in our First Year Seminar classes. Students were required to complete the assessment as part of a homework assignment.
