Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
A Bridge from Base to Campus: Green Zone Training
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
A Bridge from Base to Campus: Since the Post-9/11 GI Bill, additional opportunities for veterans to earn a college degree have resulted in a dramatic influx of veterans on college campuses. The process of transitioning from the military to civilian life can pose challenges for all service members, veterans and their families. Staff discover the issues facing active service members, student veterans and their families. You'll learn how you can:
• Increase campus awareness of the issues and concerns faced by student veterans/service members as they transition from base to campus.
• Learn about resources available to student veterans and active service members on and off campus.
• Understand the expectations of a Green Zone Volunteer.
• Assist student veterans through listening and connecting them to the appropriate resources on and off campus for problem resolution (Green Zone volunteers are NOT expected to be experts who solve the problems).
