A brief description of the assessment(s):
Bellevue College administers the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) every three to four years to assess student engagement and institutional practices and student behaviors that are correlated highly with student learning and student retention. Among these include questions on diversity.
In addition, in fall 2011, BC administered the SENSE (a “sister” of CCSSE). Items related to the college’s environment are part of these surveys.
BC's employee survey also contains items related to college climate.

A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:
The information from these surveys is disseminated throughout the college. BC administrators use the information from the employee survey to determine areas needing improvement.
The extent to which the results of the CCSSE and SENSE are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives is not formalized, but rather used within departments as deemed appropriate.
