Does the institution have an active student group focused on sustainability?:

The name and a brief description of each student group:

Sustainability and Science Association (SSA). SSA’s mission is to create awareness and involvement of issues in science and how those issues affect us and our world, and to create an atmosphere on campus that understands, appreciates, and protects our environment by displaying knowledge and devotion to its well being.

List up to 4 notable recent activities or accomplishments of student group(s):

1) Earth Week: For the past 12 years, the SSA has sponsored Earth Week, a week of events to promote environmental awareness and sustainable use of our planet’s resources, timed to coincide with Earth Day.

2) Strategic Plan: the SSA recently developed a strategic plan to outline its goals and objectives for the near future.

3) Green Room: The SSA has proposed a sustainability display space called the "Green Room," to be used for the “exhibition and representation of science and sustainability on campus.” This space would be utilized as a central location for club projects, presentations, and exhibitions on topics that support the mission of science and sustainability on campus. Pending approval, the Green Space would be open for use starting in the fall quarter 2012.
