A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:
The Assistant Director of Sustainability and Special Projects is an active member of the Texas Regional Alliance for Campus Sustainability which is a state-wide grouping of sustainability professionals that work towards a more sustainable future in higher education, local government, and nationwide.
The Assistant Director of Sustainability and Special Projects also represents the university on the Texas Product Stewardship Council whose purpose is to encourage commercial entities to better manage the life system for their products with state government setting the standards and ensuring the accountability of all commercial producers.
The Assistant Director of Sustainability and Special Projects was also invited to the ConservAmerica Strategic Energy Options Conference in April 2015. The event was held in Dallas, Texas and brought together Members of Congress, executives of public utility companies and corporations, investment analysts, and polling experts to discuss U.S. Energy Policy.
