Bates Student Garden Commits to No-Till Practices

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The Bates Student Garden, also known as the PLOT (People Learning Outside Together), has converted to enitrely no-till, organic practices. No mechanized disruption of the soil structure will occur going forward for our 1.5 acre parcel of land. This is tp preserve soil and microbial health in the garden, as well as to help prevent erosion. Bare soil is avoided, and cover crops help keep nutrients in place and prevent soil loss.
