The Barnard Sustainable Practices Committee is a tripartite committee involves students, faculty, and administrative staff to promoting sustainable practices campus-wide and reduce the campus’ collective environmental footprint.
The committee is tasked to to involve and integrate the community into promoting sustainable practices, reducing our environmental footprint, and encouraging the adoption of effective and efficient programs that demonstrate our commitment as a leader in the urban environmental landscape.

The Office of Sustainability and Climate Action works to address issues of sustainability on campus and works toward implementing a clearer climate action vision. They collaborate with campus committees, such as the Committee on Sustainable Practices, the Student Government Association Committee on Sustainability, as well as various academic and executive departments. They host events teaching and promoting sustainability on campus and create step-by-step plans for a sustainable vision.

-Release of the Climate Action Vision Plan
-Created an organics collection program which services all academic buildings, 3 dorms, and 26 office suites
-Started a circular economy model for students with our move out, move in programming.
-Created a Student Climate Action Grant Fund
-Created a pedagogy training program to support faculty in introducing/expanding climate and sustainability into their courses
