A brief description of the graduate-level degree program:
The program leading to the Master of Science degree in environmental policy offers three options. Most students follow the two-year program, which includes a four to six-month internship and a Capstone Project. Environmental science, environmental and natural resource economics, environmental law, and environmental policy comprise the core first-year courses of the environmental policy track. These courses move progressively through several topics, all concurrently addressing the same environmental theme. The curriculum’s modular organization enables students to examine one specific environmental area at a time in an integrated, comprehensive, and realistic manner.

A brief description of the graduate degree program (2nd program):
The climate degree covers the interplay between climate systems, ecosystems, and agricultural systems on the one hand and solutions on the other, training future policy leaders to guide efforts in greenhouse gas mitigation and adaptation. The first-year curriculum focuses on climate science, energy consumption, and the agriculture and ecosystem linkages to climate. It connects core scientific principles to socioeconomic impacts, infrastructure investment, and political and legislative responses to global climate change. Students are taught the basic concepts of environmental and natural resource economics, environmental policy, and detailed analyses of U.S. and international climate law and policy.

The Bard MBA in Sustainability prepares students for leadership positions in a variety of business environments—from innovative start-ups to major corporations—with in-depth knowledge of core business skills through the lens of sustainability. The curriculum provides a grounding in management essentials, with a continual focus on the integrated bottom line: economic success, environmental integrity, and social equity.

The Professional Certificate in Environmental Policy is earned by completing twenty-four credits of coursework at Bard CEP, either part-time (four semesters) or full-time (two semesters).The Certificate may be earned jointly with the Bard MBA in Sustainability or on a stand-alone basis for mid-career professionals seeking to pursue further education or a career opportunity. The Certificate program includes the opportunity to pursue Bard CEP's signature professional internship experience, earning up to six credits in a high-level placement that can be either paid or unpaid.
