Laurie Husted presented at the NYS Sustainability Conference 2016, hosted by SUNY New Paltz- I did a green infrastructure presentation focused on our on site demonstration of 5 green infrastructure practices associated with our porous asphalt parking lot and constructed wetland. The panel was: Title: Rain Gardens, Green Roofs, Rainwater Harvesting, Permeable Pavement, and Bioretention Areas: Campus Green Infrastructure Projects Funded through the NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation

In May 2016 Bard was the recipient of a grant to pilot Micro Hydro Power on campus. The proposal identified 6,700 other dams in NYS that might be opportunities for extensions of developing clean power across the state, including dams on other college campuses. We have brought several other colleges into our process including West Point Military Academy and SUNY New Paltz.

Students from a Food System Practicum analyzed publicly available food waste data and conducted a poll that was sent out to more than 10 other institutions to gain insight into food waste volumes, rates, and disposal methods.

Representatives from Sarah Lawrence College have corresponded with representatives from Bard to initiate forming a "Sustainability Council" based upon work already being done at Bard. Views into the concepts and applications in place were provided, in detail, upon request, to the Executive Assistant to the Dean of Sarah Lawrence College
