A brief description of the program, including examples of peer-to-peer outreach activities:
Members of the Sustainability Council draft outreach policy and initiatives that enhance the sustainability of the College. The Council is responsible for creation and membership renewal of the EcoAmbassador faculty and staff program. In this role, EcoAmbassadors act as the conduit for sustainability information and serve to help share it by program, department or building. Example activities include announcing events in class or staff meetings, hanging posters on office doors or shared refrigerators or water filtration stations, informal lunch time gatherings, and peer to peer conversation.
A brief description of how the employee educators are selected:
Members of the Council act as EcoAmbassadors as well as identify additional faculty and staff who they ask to volunteer to be EcoAmbassadors. EcoReps are asked to identify faculty who might help with the program. Efforts are made each fall to get adequate representation across the physical building spaces on campus.
A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:
EcoAmbassadors learn the basics of materials management on campus through one on one contact with the Office of Sustainability. They are provided with a one page information sheet. They are invited to bimonthly webinars provided through the BardCEP C2C and Sustainability MBA program. They are expected to share this information across staff, faculty, and program divisions throughout the college.
A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or paid faculty/staff coordination):
EcoAmbassadors can access funds from a "green fund" which is parceled out to support small scale independent projects upon request.
