A brief description of the program, including examples of peer-to-peer outreach activities:
EcoReps promote residence hall sustainability, including maintaining recycling/reuse/compost stations (and EcoBoxes), creating educational pieces, helping Peer Counselors with programming and volunteering for campus life sustainability efforts including Recyclemania and CCN. Public-use buildings (campus center and academic buildings) are targets for outreach and awareness initiatives.

A brief description of how the student educators are selected:
EcoReps are volunteers who self-identify prior to or during the academic year.

A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:
We hold an Orientation meeting for EcoReps before the year starts, and have regular meetings to plan and execute new sustainability initiatives on campus.

A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or faculty/staff coordination):
The EcoRep Program is funded primarily out of BoS on an as-needed basis. The budget average is roughly $500.

Peer Counselors (PCs) are students who live alongside students and serve as leaders as well as resources for their residents. Each PC is required to present programming each semester on a variety of topics including social justice, independent living, fostering ownership, active citizenship, and sustainability responsibility.

A brief description of how the student educators are selected (2nd program):
Peer Counselors are hired by Bard College Residence Life. PCs are automatically considered the EcoReps until a suitable replacement is identified.

A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach (2nd program):
In addition to their extensive training on development and transitions, listening and referral skills and community building, PCs also attend Orientation alongside EcoReps at the beginning of the year.

A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or faculty/staff coordination) (2nd program):
PCs are supervised and assisted by Area Coordinators (ACs) and the ResLife staff. As compensation, they have covered housing; each PC has a budget based on size of residence hall and an additional special events budget based on a sliding scale.
