In April 2010, President Botstein advocated for the Senate Health & Human Services and Education Appropriations bill that would allocate $25 million to University Sustainability Programs. He sent letters to NY Senators Gillibrand and Schumer. The College's policy is for the President to be asked to do sustainability policy advocacy yearly.
