A brief description of the child care program, policy, or practice:

Bard College offers many opportunities for child care for its staff.

1. Abigail Lundquist Botstein Nursery School
Benefit eligible employees may enroll dependent children, age three to five years old, in the nursery school, located on the Bard campus. A fee may be assessed based on the specific needs requested by the parent or guardian. Direct contact should be made to Jane Korn, Nursery School Director, (845) 758-7480.
2. Bard College Children’s Center
The Children’s Center is intended to help parents meet the needs for their child care during working hours throughout the year. The center operates through charged tuition and fundraising. Direct contact should be made to Kristine Williams, Children’s’ Center Director, (845) 758-7444.
3. Child care will be available to non-visiting Bard faculty members while attending to official college business under the following conditions:
a. Childcare must be provided by a current Bard student.
b. Maximum rate of reimbursement is the current wage rate for student employment.
c. Children eligible for the enrollment at the Bard Nursery School are not covered during the times that the nursery school is open and space is available, except in cases of illness.
d. Support is not available for children enrolled in first or higher grade.
e. The maximum claim will be 10 hours per week.

4. Employees are offered enrollment in the Benefit Resource Flexible Spending Account. Employees can contribute their own pre tax deposits from their pay into the dependent care account to a maximum of $5000 per year (as of 10/2010).
