Does the institution have an on-campus garden where students are able to gain organic farming and/or gardening experience?:
Yes

A brief description of the garden:

The Bard community has an organic garden. It is not divided into plots, but rather grown in full by anyone who wants to participate. Food is harvested by anyone who needs it (usually the custodial staff in recent years). It is approximately 5000 sq ft of growing space, with an additional 400' of blueberries and 100' of strawberries. We also grow flowers. For the most part we plant late so that there is food in the late summer when people come back to school. The garden has a fire circle in the middle (with benches, about 20' in diameter) as gathering and being in the garden is encouraged. There is some workstudy available, but it is mostly run by volunteers. It is a garden and not a farm, and because it's terraced, requires a lot of handwork. We grow a lot of diverse crops: beans, beats, asparagus, chard, kale, lettuce, carrots, rhubarb, squash, tomatoes, peas. There are about 400' of raspberries in the garden as well.
The garden has minimal number of rules, but is extremely ordered nonetheless. (No rules about membership and so on). It's an open space.
