Ball State University has entered into a contract with Summit Energy Service/Schneider Electrical to issue a request for proposal seeking a developer who will install wind or solar power for BSU under a virtual power purchase agreement. The intent is to contract for all of our scope 2 or electric import power which will reduce our carbon footprint by around 69,000 MTeCO2.

The BSU electric power provider AEP/I&M recently announced that their power production for 2020 was 85% carbon-emission free. The evaluation that BSU needs to undertake is should we use our providers carbon footprint or continue to use SIMAP which accounts for multiple PJM providers who are not as carbon emission free.
