Part 1. Greenhouse gas emissions inventory

Has the institution conducted a GHG emissions inventory within the previous three years that includes all Scope 1 and 2 emissions? :
Yes

A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:
Sustainability Indicator Management & Analysis Platform (SIMAP)

Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes

A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:
A VCS-approved BSU Monitoring Plan was submitted to Ruby Canyon Engineering of
Grand Junction, CO for independent third party verification of our SIMAP
Reporting of CY 2018 and CY 2019 data.

A similar report is in preparation for submittal of the CY 2020 data; to be filed June 2021

We plan to continue such practice in years to come.

Documentation to support the GHG inventory verification process:
Scope 1 GHG emissions
Gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
Weight in MTCO2e
Stationary combustion 16,866.90 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Other sources (mobile combustion, process emissions, fugitive emissions) 1,335.26 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:

Carbon monoxide (CO) 9 Tons
Particulate matter (PM) 2.36 Tons
Ozone (O3) 0 Tons
Lead (Pb) 0 Tons
Hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) 0 Tons
Ozone-depleting compounds (ODCs) 0 Tons
Other standard categories of air emissions identified in permits and/or regulations 18,202.16 Tons

Do the air pollutant emissions figures provided include the following sources?:
Yes or No
Major stationary sources Yes
Area sources Yes
Mobile sources Yes
Commuting No
Off-site electricity production Yes

None
A brief description of the methodology(ies) the institution used to complete its air emissions inventory:
Ball State University greenhouse gas reports are submitted as required by the EPA and IDEM for Title V permit fees. Information shown is for 2019 calendar year.

Optional Fields

Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from purchased electricity (location-based):

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
1) We are continuing to use a Fiscal Year (FY) Reporting window so as to align with our Strategic Planning and Budgeting Schedules.

2) Nonetheless, our accounting of CO2e quantities for transaction on the VCM
are bounded by calendar year.

3) These transactions are used to garner carbon capital with which to accelerate
and deepen our overall reductions as we pursue our goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2030.
