A brief description of the institution’s green event certification program:

1)Department has one hybrid vehicle.
2)Recreation programs provides a bicycle rental program to promote less use of vehicles.
3)Majority of cardio equipment is self-powered.

4)We installed water-less urinals in the Rec Center and Football stadium.
5)Water fixtures are low flow in Rec Center and Ball Gym locker rooms.
6)We have installed air dry, hand dryers in Worthen Arena
7)Motion activated light fixtures.
8)We manage recycling after all events.
9)Department will install signage encouraging saving of water.
10)Concessionaire uses recycled paper products.
11)Dining services uses recycled products.
12)Department has established a practice of reducing the use of paper products.
13)Over the last three years we have replaced all of our public facility venues and activity spaces with LED lighting.
14)We have replaced five natural turf fields with artificial turf thus reducing irrigation.
15)We make announcements on video boards asking people to recycle.
16)We place signage asking people to recycle in their offices.
17)We use environmentally friendly turf products.
18)We have a geothermal heating/cooling system which is utilized in all facilities campus wide.
19) We will research and investigate what qualifications we need to meet in order to be considered Green Events Certified in the future.
10) Absent a sustainability officer, it is not possible at this time to dictate that other areas or departments undertake green initiatives. Sport Facilities and Recreation Service practice green initiatives as a department and we have received Rehabilitation and Restoration monies from the University to achieve the initiatives listed above.
