Ball State University has instituted and was approved by the board of trustees an strategic imperative to reduce its total carbon footprint to 60,000 mtCO2e by 2024. This is a milestone to the pathway of obtaining carbon neutral by 2030.

A Presidents Sustainability Working Group was established by the President to determine the means and develop a template to carbon neutral by 2030.

1) We are continuing to use a Fiscal Year (FY) Reporting window so as to align with our
Strategic Planning and Budgeting Schedules.
2) Nonetheless, our accounting of CO2e quantities for transaction on the VCM
are bounded by calendar year.
3) These transactions are used to garner carbon capital with which to accelerate
and deepen our overall reductions as we pursue the 2030 date for hitting
our goal of climate neutrality.
