College Visitation Programs scheduled throughout the year utilizing our (MAC) Multicultural Ambassador Corps. Approximately 1500 students come to campus through our MAC Visits annually. They range from elementary to high school and special organizations, such as 21st Century Scholars, JAG Programs, Prep Academies, etc. Students are given an admissions presentation, panel discussion with current BSU students and a tour of campus.

Explore Ball State Day scheduled for a day on campus in April when we bring selected prospective minority high school juniors and seniors to campus to meet with individual academic departments on campus. We host approximately 350 students each year. They attend a campus student organization fair to inquire about student groups at BSU. We have a keynote speaker talk to the group as well a panel discussion with current BSU students as a part of the first component of the program; the second component consist of two 25-minute sessions with the academic department of their choice and concludes with a campus tour and lunch.

A brief description of the institution’s programs to prepare students from low-income backgrounds for higher education:
21st Century Scholars’ Day on campus is scheduled in the first week of April. We invite 21st Century Scholars from 16 sites across the state of Indiana to attend this event annually. Typically about 150 students participate each year. The format includes an admission presentation, panel discussion, campus tour and lunch. the Summer Scholars Residential Program is scheduled for three consecutive one-week stays on campus each summer; these focus on academic courses, such as English, Math and Science with university professors in the morning with some emphasis on level of immersive learning in several academic areas across campus in the afternoon. Fifty rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors are invited each week to participate. These scholars are nominated by high school guidance counselors from their schools.

A brief description of the institution's scholarships for low-income students:
THE PROVOST AWARD offers selected students a $3,000 award. The selected students were Pell Grant recipients with a 3.0 high school GPA or above. A select group of PRESIDENDTIAL SCHOLARS are awarded an additional $3,000 to be used for room and board. These selected students are typically Pell Grant recipients with a high school GPA of 3.3 or above. THE GOODALL BOOK AWARDS are awards made to Twenty-First Century Scholars (an Indiana program for needy students). The awards offer up to $1,000 per year for incoming freshmen from Muncie Central and Muncie South High Schools receiving a Twenty-First Century Scholars award. MINORITY TEACHER AND SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES SCHOLARSHIPS These scholarships are funded by the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI). One may qualify for this scholarship if he/she is: • a minority student (defined as Black or Hispanic) seeking a teaching certification; or student seeking a Special Education teaching certification • enrolled full-time (12 hours) • pursuing a course of study that would allow you to teach in an accredited Indiana elementary or secondary school Note: Indiana residents (of any race or ethnic group) and are enrolled full-time and pursuing a course of study to teach special education in an accredited Indiana elementary or secondary school are also eligible for this award. The maximum annual non-need-based scholarship is $1,000. Financial need may be considered but is not a requirement. Awards are made until funds are exhausted with preference given to minority students enrolling in college for the first time. FLOYD LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS ... The Floyd Leadership Scholars program provides scholarships for minority students who possess leadership potential and high academic abilities. ... Ball State alumnus A.B. A brief description of the institution’s programs to guide parents of low-income students through the higher education experience:
For the past two years one such program is held in Indianapolis each spring, and is becoming well attended by minority parents in the Indianapolis area. The workshop is sponsored by the office of admissions but minority faculty and staff or the participants interacting with the parents. EXPLORE BALL STATE DAY scheduled for a day on campus in April where we bring selected prospective minority high school juniors and seniors to campus to meet with individual academic departments on campus. We host approximately 350 students each year. They attend a campus student organization fair to inquire about student groups at BSU. We have a keynote speaker talk to the group as well a panel discussion with current BSU students as a part of the first component of the program and the second component consist of two 25-minute sessions with the academic department of their choice and conclude with a campus tour and lunch. PROJECT STEPPING STONE scheduled for Hispanic/Latino students to stay 3 days on campus in June. We have a picnic with them on the first day and then they are involved with several seminars on academic departments along with a panel discussion with selected current minority BSU students. We have about 100 students visit each year.

Such programs are sponsored by the office of admissions in African-American and Hispanic communities of Indianapolis, Ft. Wayne and Gary. We also offer a college credit opportunity for those students that matriculate to BSU in the fall after the SUMMER SCHOLARS PROGRAM. •Indianapolis Black Expo scheduled an information booth in the exhibitor’s section of the convention to share current information about Ball State University. •CENTER FOR LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT ACHIEVER'S SCHOLARSHIP DINNER is scheduled in April where Ball State University is among a consortium of university that sponsor two CLD/BSU scholarships awarded annually. •CINCO DE MAYO Celebration held in the spring. •INDIANAPOLIS FIESTA CELEBRATION in the summer. •LA PLAZA'S NIGHT OF AMERICA'S DINNER held in spring. •MINORITY RECRUITMENT FALL PROGRAM AND SPRING DIVERSITY RECEPTION for Admitted Students held at the Madame CJ Walker Theater in Indianapolis.
