Yes

A brief description of the practice:

The university has eliminated the practice of large hard-copy production runs of course catalogs in favor of on-line course catalogs forundergraduate and graduate course offerings, has moved to electronic course registration, course evaluation and course-grade filing.

This has had influence on other practices throughout the campus (see "submission notes above")

Reduction in Paper Use:

A new server in the Graduate School allows the School to send applicant data throughout the University without sending paper copies via campus mail.

Starting Fall 2008, deposit of dissertations and theses will be electronic. This will allow documents to be shared with faculty, and beyond the University, without printing costs and paper use.

GradGuide allows prospective students to create a personalized e-brochure based on their interests, and have that emailed directly to the student, saving on excessive promotional material being mailed from the Grad School.

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) has recently converted to an electronic submission process for IRB protocols.

The Internal Grants program has also recently converted to almost entirely paper-free process. Previously, applicants were required to turn in the original signed application, along with 13 copies. Review sessions were also paper based, as were the mailed award letters. Now, applicants submit the signed original and email an electronic copy, which is then shared with the review committee. Award letters are also emailed to funded applicants.
