Since 2015, wellness activities at Baldwin Wallace University have been available to all part-time and full-time faculty and staff. As of January 1, 2017 the university is a tobacco and smoke free campus. The university has a diverse employee Wellness Advisory Council and team of Wellness Ambassadors that help to shape the direction of our wellness strategy. A variety of wellness opportunities are offered that address the six dimensions of wellness (occupational, physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, emotional). Program descriptions and registration information along with health education messages are communicated via flyers, monthly newsletter, campus intranet and digital signage. A campus wellness website provides the latest program and resource information. Programs offered focus on behavior and lifestyle changes in the areas of physical activity, weight management/nutrition, mindfulness/stress management and key health indicators through biometric screenings. All programs are offered on-site, free of charge for employees and can be attended on university time. Weight Watchers @ Work is offered for a fee, but is also subsidized by Wellness. Wellness sponsors a yearly Wellfest that highlights health, wellness and recreational campus and community resources. An employee Mind Spa offers space and amenities for stress management and relaxation. To meet the mental health needs of employees, Human Resources offers an EAP program as a part of its benefits package. The Counseling Center provides TAO Connect, a free online service for stress management, mindfulness, problem-solving, and relationship tips and strategies for faculty, staff and students. The BW recreation center is available to employees and students at no charge and offers free daily group fitness classes. Additionally, the recreation center offers club and intramural sports and student adventure trips and activities. The University Health Center, Counseling Center, Recreation center and additional Student Affairs programming helps to meet student health and well-being needs.
