Part 1

Does the institution have policies and/or guidelines in place to improve outdoor air quality and minimize air pollutant emissions from mobile sources on campus?:
Yes

None
A brief description of the policies and/or guidelines to improve outdoor air quality and minimize air pollutant emissions from mobile sources:
BW became a non-smoking campus on January 1st, 2017 after a Student Government initiative to improve wellness on campus. According to Medical News Today, cigarette smoke produces 10 times more air pollution in the form of partiuclate matter (PM) than diesel car exhaust (https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/12481.php). The policy applies to all faculty, staff, students, visitors, subcontractors, consultants and vendors on any BW property. It includes "any tobacco product, whether lighted or not, including but not limited to: cigarettes, pipes, cigars, e-cigarettes, smokeless and chewing tobacco." It bans the use of tobacco in "all university buildings, athletic and recreational facilities, parking lots and university owned, or personal vehicles being driven or parked on campus." This policy aligns BW with a national trend at colleges and universities to have policies that ban tobacco and smoking.
