Does the institution formally designate sustainability courses in its standard course catalog or listings?:
Yes
A brief description of the formal sustainability course designation program, including the methodology used to identify and approve courses for inclusion:
Baldwin Wallace University provides students with a formal major in Sustainability. This major track includes 4 required courses specifically designated with the prefix "SUS." These four courses include the required gateway course for the major (i.e., SUS150I: Humans and the Earth), a special topics course required for Sustainability upperclassmen (i.e., SUS363: Special Topics in Sustainability), an internship or fieldwork experience approved by the Sustainability Program directors (i.e., SUS070X: Internship/Fieldwork Experience), and a final capstone course where teams of students undertake a predetermined sustainability related senior project with direct relevance to the practice of sustainability on campus that is managed and approved by the Sustainability Program directors (i.e., SUS400).
BW's Sustainability (SUS) designated courses are searchable in our online course catalog under the term "Sustainability." In addition to the courses appearing when the search term "Sustainability" is employed, the 4 major tracks in the Sustainability Program along with the Minor and Certificate options also appear. Please follow this link for confirmation: http://catalog.bw.edu/index.php?catoid=7. Screen shots of both the search engine as well as the search result are included in the attached file.
In addition, BW also offers a "Student Planning Tool" internal software search engine for students. Students search directly for the term "Sustainability" and be presented with the course options or students may search for an academic subject and "Sustainability is listed as an option (please see the attachment for screen shots).
