8.1 Food recovery program

Does the institution donate surplus food to a food redistribution program on at least a monthly basis when its dining services are operational?:
Yes

Narrative and/or website URL providing an overview of the institution’s surplus food donation program:

We have planned surplus food donations 4 times annually and redistribute food to local partnerships and shelters as determined by operations.

Throughout the Year we donate to Women's Lunch Place, A Place to Turn and other local Non-profits. We also are one of 3 College's piloting TooGoodToGo (https://www.toogoodtogo.com/en-us/about-us) an app for students and local residents to sign up for surplus food


Do the institution’s dining services divert pre-consumer food waste from disposal for processing and use as animal feed, compost, and/or biofuel?:
Yes

Yes, WasteNot 2.0 is our proprietary waste management software weighing recoverable and non-recoverable food waste during food preparation. All production food waste is measured at each location throughout the day. CERO Waste Management measures our compostable food waste for monthly reporting

We collect post-consumer waste in our campus center dining area, Olin Hall, Trim Dining Hall, and from select offices that have opted into the program.


Do the institution’s dining services track and assess their food and organic materials management efforts on at least an annual basis to inform ongoing improvements?:
Yes

Narrative and/or website URL providing an overview of the institution’s food and organic materials management tracking and assessment initiatives:

\We utilize, WasteNot 2.0, our proprietary waste management software weighing recoverable and non-recoverable food waste during food preparation. All production food waste is measured at each location throughout the day to be analyzed daily, weekly, monthly, and annually. CERO Waste Management measures our compostable food waste for monthly reporting.
