Most campus buildings are monitored for monthly energy consumption with a energy management system (EMS). There is an EMS in every building except for off-campus University-owned residences (those inhabited by Provost, etc) and the Woodland Hills residence halls. In addition to the EMS, energy consumption is tracked on a monthly basis and aggregated annually, then analyzed to determine if energy efficient upgrades need to occur.

Both mechanically and naturally ventilated spaces utilize proper air outflow equipment defined by ASHRAE Standard 62.1–2010 or higher. Temperature, air flow, and CO2 monitors combined with remote access programs ensure the environmental quality in buildings across campus remains high.
