Description of the process used to identify the institution’s sustainability research:

The spreadsheet provides three worksheets.

Worksheet 1 = all Babson faculty research publications AYF2020-AYS2023

Worksheet 2 = titles and journals of all Babson faculty research publications AYF2020-AYS2023 were searched for the following keywords (environment/environmental, sustainability, ecology, ecosystem, climate, UN SDG/United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), Principles for Responsible Management Education/PRME, justice, injustice, equality, inequality)

Worksheet 3 = of research publications containing those keywords, each title was vetted to ensure the word environment, ecosystem, and sustainability were used in a way that constitutes "sustainability research" as described by AASHE STARS. Babson business faculty tend to use the word ecosystem in a way that does not relate to ecology. These articles, faculty member names, and divisions were removed. # of divisions that submitted sustainability-based research was calculated using this third worksheet entitled "Reviewed Keyword Match."

6.2 Incentives for sustainability research

Does the institution provide incentives for academic staff to conduct sustainability research?:
Yes

Description of the sustainability research incentives for academic staff:

Faculty are eligible to apply for internal grants from the Babson Faculty Research Fund (BFRF) and the Teaching Innovation Fund. The BFRF can be utilized by any faculty, and sustainability research projects are funded. Each year the Teaching Innovation Fund specifically seeks out sustainability-based pedagogy projects.  

The Faculty Director of Integrated Sustainability has a $5,000 annual research budget to fund faculty/student research projects.


Does the institution provide incentives for students to conduct sustainability research?:
Yes

Description of the sustainability research incentives for students:

Students are eligible to apply for Professional Accelerator Fund resources to cover the costs associated with conferences, workshops, and seminars they may want to attend to broaden their professional experience and network. The Undergraduate School supplements this fund with an annual allocation of funds specifically for students interested in attending sustainability-based conferences.

The Faculty Director of Integrated Sustainability has a $5,000 annual research budget to fund faculty/student research projects.
