Course Inventory

One
A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :
Includes courses from Summer, Fall, and Spring sessions. Courses identified through a combination of staff knowledge, faculty survey responses, and sustainability office student intern experiences. Data reflects FY17.
How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Other (please describe below)
A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted (if different from the options outlined above):
The methodology for counting courses is mixed because the course number (e.g., AHS 1000) is not always a clear indicator of unique content. This means that some course sections considered to be separate courses, while other course sections are counted as one course. For example, there may be 10 instances of ACC 1000 (Introduction to Financial Accounting). Each section of this course is largely identical, with students in each section receiving the same course content so this is counted as one course. In contrast, AHS 1000 features sections that focus on "Nature and the Environment," "Memory and Forgetting," and "Justice and Inequality." Students taking any of these sections will receive very different content so each focus area of AHS 1000 is counted as a separate course. (*Regardless of how many times a given section is offered, it is counted as one course)
