Clean and renewable energy from the following sources::
Performance Year | |
Option 1: Clean and renewable electricity generated on-site during the performance year and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes | 0 MMBtu |
Option 2: Non-electric renewable energy generated on-site | 0 MMBtu |
Option 3: Clean and renewable electricity generated by off-site projects that the institution catalyzed and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes | 0 MMBtu |
Option 4: Purchased third-party certified RECs and similar renewable energy products (including renewable electricity purchased through a certified green power purchasing option) | 43,031 MMBtu |

A brief description of on-site renewable electricity generating devices :
We have a solar powered "park structure" with a storage area and restrooms at a field site. The facility is tied to the grid but is in a rural area where the utility does not have to pay for the electricity added to the grid and the meter merely shows zero consumption for nine or ten months of the year when production exceeds consumption. The building generates more energy than it consumes annually, but we do not have precise data for production.

A brief description of on-site renewable non-electric energy devices:
Natural gas boiler for producing warm or chilled water

A brief description of off-site, institution-catalyzed, renewable electricity generating devices:

A brief description of the RECs and/or similar renewable energy products:
We obtain RECs from two sources. Our electricity contract includes RECs for 15% of our electricity consumption but the contract is flexible and does not specify the year when the RECs are purchases. We purchase additional RECs. For this reporting period we purchased enough additional RECs to bring out total to 85.0% of our electricity consumption, or 12,611,067 kWh. These separately purchased RECs are 100% wind and Green-e certified.
