RMS has customized each system to be in line with regulatory requirements for National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. As we are not an OSHA state, we utilize best practices from the regulatory standard in our inspections and training expectations.
BioRAFT
• For occupational safety and health purposes, BioRAFT is utilized as our learning management system to host and track university safety training.
• BioRAFT is also used to host and track our medical surveillance program for the Animal Program for the College of Veterinary Medicine to ensure students, faculty, and staff have received all required vaccinations and training for the hazards associated with animal handling.
SharePoint:
• SharePoint is a collaborative document management system; it is a platform in which we are working to create and host occupational safety and health and fire/life safety inspections.
• It will host the inspection, communicates findings with the end user/customer, tracks communication of corrective actions, and any necessary follow-ups.
Asset Panda
• This database is used to track the inventory and inspections of fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers on campus.
Chematix
• This program is utilized to track hazardous chemicals in labs on campus. This system also houses safety data sheets for the inventoried chemicals for immediate review if needed to meet OSHA Hazardous communication needs.

RMS has oversight of the university’s On-the-Job Injury Program. All work-related injuries and illnesses are reported directly to the RMS office. Numbers are pulled directly from our Risk Management and Information System.

The Safety & Health Program within Risk Management & Safety is responsible for coordinating and monitoring a variety of safety initiatives with various campus stakeholders at Auburn University. This includes program/policy development, auditing, training/education, accident investigation, and general safety consultations. Areas covered include: fire & life safety, occupational safety industrial hygiene, animal occupational safety and general safety. Safety & Health provides a variety of training resources including: indoor air quality, asbestos control, machine shop safety, respiratory protection, fire extinguisher training, lockout/tagout, hot work, golf cart safety, cooking and dorm safety, fire safety, and safety in animal programs. Members of Auburn University’s Risk Management & Insurance program coordinate with Safety & Health to respond to accidents and injuries and to provide guidance on mitigation.
