Clemson University and Auburn University joined together to spark the launch of the US Tiger University Consortium. Together with Louisiana State University and the University of Missouri-Columbia, these institutions seek to raise awareness about the challenges faced by tiger populations and to provide practical solutions to promote population recovery. Through training/capacity building, research, technology transfer, and outreach, these land-grant institutions will work hand-in-hand with the Global Tiger Initiative Council to help the remaining 3,900 wild tigers thrive in their natural environments and to support the continued growth of their populations.
