Research Inventory
The institution’s inventory of its sustainability research that includes names and department affiliations of faculty and staff engaged in sustainability research:
See the file attached, and also posted on our website below.
A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory (including the types of faculty and staff included as researchers):
Staff in Academic Sustainability Programs collected information about sustainability-related research projects of faculty, using a combination of methods. On a regular basis, the Director of Academic Sustainability Programs perused university publications such as Auburn Speaks, the Auburn Report, Auburn Daily, Auburn News, and press releases from the Office of Communications and Marketing. Each year, the oral and poster research presentation titles from the annual Faculty Research Day and Student Research Day were examined, and all sustainability research projects presented by faculty (or by students as part of faculty research programs) at these campus-wide research conferences were added as well. During Fall 2018, a faculty representative from each of the 10 colleges on campus, who serve on the Academic Sustainability Advisory Committee, were asked to peruse the draft inventory, and to submit corrections and additions from their units. Finally, an email message was sent to all faculty on campus via the faculty email list, to ask for any final additions or corrections. The finalized inventory of sustainability research conducted during 2016-18 was posted online in December 2018.
Please note that the total number of academic departments (or the equivalent), which is reported here for AC-9, is given as the same number that is also listed in IC-3, for consistency. This is the total number of departments that was calculated from the detailed research inventory excel files, which are available at the online link shown above. The number of academic units calculated for the Sustainability Course Inventories for AC-1 is somewhat different (see that credit for explanations).
Contact the Director of Academic Sustainability Programs, Dr. Chadwick, if any questions.
