The Waste Reduction and Recycling Department has a contract with Sand Hill Recycling Center to accept construction and demolition debris (C&D) generated by the university and delivered by university staff or the university's waste hauler. Data currently collected reflects a portion of smaller in-house projects with the following results:
872.0 tons diverted annually
131.0 tons sent to landfill annually

As mentioned, these figures do not capture C&D waste from all projects on campus. Efforts to formalize a C&D waste tracking program have been initiated with an expected implementation date of Fiscal Year 2016.
