A brief description of how the physical campus plan or amendment includes sustainability:
The 2007 Campus Master Plan contains a major section dedicated to sustainability and addresses five sustainable design goals that have the potential to assist the University in creating a stronger, more vibrant community: reducing energy consumption, providing alternative transportation options, reducing CO2 and greenhouse gas emissions, preserving water resources, and protecting habitats.
Both the Campus Master Plan and the Campus Landscape Master plan are currently under revision in 2012, and Auburn University's commitment to sustainability has been strengthened and identified as a core value and component of both plan revisions. "Sustainable Practices" as a priority in the Campus Master Plan update was affirmed by the University Board of Trustees in 2012.
