A brief description of the program:
Auxiliary Services Property Management Department began this program over 20 years ago. The University partners with local not-for-profit agencies to divert items left at move-out for their use to promote the greater good of the community. The program is promoted to students in residence halls. Promotional messages ask students to give their unwanted items to charity so that they can be re-purposed - thus aiding the less fortunate in the community and keeping items out of a landfill. Property Management staff coordinates the logistics of set-up of materials receptacles and pick-up of donated items. Students are credited with program success due to the contribution of significant volumes of goods to the program.
