Supports smaller projects that are designed to build a campus sustainability culture and promote student engagement. A small funding pool is set aside each year to award grants of up to $5,000 and is overseen by the director of Sustainability Practices at ASU and a Sustainability Initiatives Revolving Fund (SIRF) committee member.
A brief description of the multi-stakeholder decision-making process used to determine which projects receive funding through the sustainability projects fund:
The Sustainability Challenge Grant is awarded in a two-part process. First, a student panel reviews applications. The panel consists of a representative from the student government, a past recipient, the Sustainability Chair for Changemaker Central, and a representative from a student club that represents a large student population (e.g., the Residence Hall Association). Second, applications that are recommended by the student panel are reviewed by the Executive Director of University Sustainability Practices for final approval.

(1) Changemaker Challenge - Entrepreneurship & innovation projects, prototypes, partnerships & ventures global + social impact
(2) Woodside Community Action Grant - Maricopa-based service projects
(3) Civic Engagement Grant - Political and non-political civic action
(4) Sustainability Challenge - On-campus projects to promote Sustainability
The Woodside Community Action Grants are also reviewed by a student panel which makes recommendations to the external funder.
Changemaker and Innovation and Civic Engagement Grants are selected by student panels.
