Does the institution have a program to reduce residence hall move-in waste?:
Yes

A brief description of the program:

A cross-departmental committee of student workers, professional staff, and third-party service providers coordinate to plan trash & recycling education, training, collection, management, disposal, & assessment. Students moving into residence halls are given move-in recycling information during the summer to facilitate and are reminded during the move-in process with signage and face-to-face engagement. We partner with local building material manufacturer to divert polystyrene from waste stream.

Trash & recycling locations around campus are staffed on move-in days through the evening to assist new students and parents with proper recycling techniques. University Housing also contracts professional mover assistance, which advises students on how to pack most efficiently for moving.
